Group Co-ordination Committee
The Committee advises Council on the structure and operation of Divisions and Groups.
The core functions of the committee will be to:
- Advise on and make recommendations concerning the creation, merger and closure of groups and divisions
- Ensure that the portfolio of groups reflects accurately current and emerging physics activities
- Monitor the activities of groups, including their use of funds
- Allocate resources to groups according to the budget set by Council
- Arrange elections for membership of GCC
- Work with the Conference Office to agree operational matters concerning conference organisation
- Ensure that all group and division activity is consistent with the diversity and inclusion policies agreed by Council
- Advise Council on matters pertaining to groups and divisions and on mechanisms to deal with policy decisions
- Consider other matters as requested by Council or its boards and committees
