IOP support
We have created a set of materials that you can use to promote a career in teaching physics with your target audience.
Posters: Physicists, Your country needs you
A tongue-in-cheek take on the iconic army recruitment poster, targeting physics enthusiasts to think about a career in teaching. We recommend you display these posters alongside your own posters across campus and ask your partners to do the same. All physics, ITE and careers departments were sent a set of these posters upon launch in 2010 but more can be requested by emailing teach@iop.org
Leaflets: Love Physics – Pass on the Passion and Teach
This short A5 guide provides information on the different routes into teaching training, together with advice on funding and career opportunities. As an overview, this will complement your course marketing material and can work as an introductory piece to your more detailed prospectus guides.
All ITE centres were sent a number of copies last year, and the latest version can be requested by emailing teach@iop.org. You can also download it in our publications section.
Events material
In conjunction with our Love Physics teaching guide, we have produced a set of Love Physics posters and postcards which can be personalised for your event. They are a great way to promote your open days, careers events and talks on campus to potential prospects. Examples can be found here:
If you wish to request a personalised set, simply email the event details (date, time and room) and a copy of your logo to teach@iop.org. We can then send you your personalised artwork ready for you to print.
IOP member emails
The IOP has 40,000 members including all undergraduate physics students and many postgraduate students. Through the Mitre project, we have contacted groups of members who we have identified as having a potential interest in training as a teacher and we will soon be contacting all relevant members with a personalised email about teacher training providers in their area. This will be a great opportunity for all ITE providers and we hope to work with you on this very soon.
